Mounted Patrol Competition
Featuring Livingston County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol Unit
- Wednesday, July 19th at 12pm
The Mounted Patrol competition has been hosted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department for nearly 20 years. Local counties (including Livingston, Monroe, Wyoming, Niagara & Chautauqua), as well as teams from the Rochester Police Department and the Governor’s General Guard in Canada, bring mounted units to train and compete. Men and women compete equally, as neither sex has an advantage on their mount.
Individuals compete on a course of 10 street-based obstacles, designed to reflect real-world scenarios. These include a construction zone, sirens & lights, backing into a stall, unexpected actions & noises, crowd control, suspect apprehension, escorting a patrol car and others. Each year, the course is slightly different. Join us in front of the Grandstand to watch this exciting event! The Mounted competition takes place Wednesday at Noon in front of the Grandstand.
